The Better Life Integration and Support Society Board of Directors is excited to provide you with this update:
Over the past year, we have not communicated with you, our volunteers, supporters and donors, as we would have wished, and for this we (Better Life Board of Directors) apologize.
As many of you know, we retained a consultant to direct operations in mid-2018. In 2019, we learned a great deal about our relationship with Correctional Services Canada (CSC) that we had been previously unaware of and that made us question our path forward.
To be quite frank, we were even considering whether to continue with our CSC contract. But our representative at CSC encouraged us to continue and even develop our ministry, and this January, we felt God clearly indicated His desire for us to continue ministering to men and women nearing release from prison and transitioning them into appropriate faith communities.
We are pleased to announce that Adam Wiggins has felt the call to serve this marginalized group and has accepted the position of General Director.
Adam is well suited to this position. In addition to his heart for those returning to the community from incarceration, he has been a lead pastor in established churches, has served as a church planter, and is skilled in organizational and leadership development.
What you can expect over the next few months:
We will be communicating more regularly
We will be reengaging with our volunteers who have continued to serve men and women during these past months
We will be visiting both our partner churches and new groups to regain their trust and strengthen their ministry to our men and women
We will be training volunteers and churches
We will be seeking additional donations to allow us to employ addition resources so that we can be more effective
Adam will provide an update, including a more detailed plan of activities and events going forward, within the next six to eight weeks.
Thank you to all of you who have supported Better Life throughout the past years. We look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
Blessings,
J. A. Webber
President, Board of Directors
